Class Under A Tree

In a distant town, 24 local missionaries gathered last week for daily classes under a big shade tree. To make the improvised classroom, the teacher tied a whiteboard to the trunk of the tree.

The missionaries who attended came from far-flung parts of the country, some traveling for a full day by road. They were all eager to learn the Ajami script.

As one missionary put it, “I want to thank God for this wonderful training! I’ve been looking for a way to understand this Arabic writing, and now by the grace of God I can read it, I can write it, and I pray that God will use my new knowledge to take the gospel to mallams and others who read it.”
